Cardamom and Pistachio Hemp Protein Bites: A Gut-Loving Snack

Finding a mid-afternoon snack that balances blood sugar while supporting your microbiome can feel challenging. These pistachio and cardamom bites offer a refined approach to daily grazing. Blending high-quality plant proteins with prebiotic-rich dates and seeds, they provide a sustained source of energy without the inevitable crash.

Ingredients

  • 100g shelled pistachios
  • 50g hemp seeds
  • 40g high-quality vanilla plant protein powder
  • 100g Medjool dates, pitted
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • A pinch of flaky sea salt

Method

  1. Place the pistachios in a food processor and pulse until roughly chopped, then set aside a small handful for rolling later.
  2. Add the hemp seeds, protein powder, dates, tahini, cardamom, and sea salt to the processor alongside the remaining pistachios.
  3. Blend until the mixture comes together into a sticky dough, adding a splash of filtered water if it feels slightly dry.
  4. Roll the dough into bite-sized spheres, then gently coat them in the reserved crushed pistachios.
  5. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week to maintain their firm texture.
